A major setback
Update: We found a way to get the drive fixed, but our Patreon funds have run out. https://www.hdd-parts.com/16102831.html This place offers bios swaps for a new board, making it actually possible to just replace the PCB that has the connector on it. If you would like to help pay, please contact wellivea1 on Discord or donate to our Patreon (but that takes time).
Soon after moving the drives, I noticed that the drive was not being detected. I had assumed that I just forgot a connector or something, but the sata power connector looked like it had not slid on all the way. This was because the plastic under the pins had broken off from under it. I do not know how this could happen from moving it between PCs, but it recently went past its 2 yr warranty so a repair without spending $500+ would be impossible.
We have bought a replacement drive with the money we have gotten so far, but it quickly became clear that it was not possible to recover the data without replacing the connector. If any of you have any suggestions on how to get the drive powered up (that don’t involve buying a soldering iron), do let us know.
There seem to be options for drive repair that aren’t $1000 (although it’s not clear if they will replace a sata power connector), but there’s no more Patreon money left.
This does not mean we are 100% dead, it just means yet another setback in the world of setbacks and delays in fansubbing.
Haru is going to cobble together what he can from his PC and cloud links and there will be an update later. Thanks for all the support.
